A basket weaving workshop is an authentic and memorable experience for you group! We will come to you or you can come to our store, Binya, and you and your group will learn the art form of sweetgrass basket making and come away with your very own creation!

Those of you who know Lola Campbell and her family will know her mother, Mrs. Campbell’s deviled crab and other signature dishes. Lola’s family is often willing to pitch in for a Friday night Fish Fry, complete with authentic family dishes. We can also curate a Chef experience with a professional, highly sought-after Gullah chef (that even has celebrity status!)

Hilton Head Island and the entire Gullah Geechee Corridor hosts annual Gullah festivals, poetry readings, film festivals, culinary events, and music concerts that are all exciting. At Binya, we are proud to be connected to many of these prominent and important leaders in our community and are able to authentically connect you and your group — all without the festival or event! We can create a private experience that you will remember for a lifetime.

To learn about the history of our Gullah culture, you’ll have to learn some history of historical sites on our Island. Part of our curated experiences include visits to the Gullah Museum of Hilton Head Island, Gullah Heritage Trail Tours, and a visit to Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park. All of this can be part of your custom package.
